Painted Skies in San Antonio
The last time I hit up the St. Mary’s Strip for a night of live music, I was in high school watching my little brother play with his rock band at the White Rabbit. True story. As they say hard work pays off and dreams do come true. I was happy to witness it tonight as I watched my little brother perform at his album “Painted Skies” release party at The Amp Room.
“Painted Skies” is just the beginning of the original music that will be put out for everyone to enjoy. The album has 5 tracks and produced by Desiree Segura and Greg Galindo, better known as Dez & Greg. Power drummer Landis Chisenhall’s intro in the song “Why” instantly got the crowd nodding their heads up and down and stomping their feet. As the song continued, Dez did what she does best, sing the hell out it. The energy in the room was boosted up with Dez’s vocals and the band but, there’s nothing like an awesome guitar solo to really rock you out. Courtesy of my little brother, Greg. “Heaven to Me”, slowed things down a bit with softer rock, blues melody and Chris Guerrero added some soul to it with his magic on the keyboard. You could see all the heart these musicians have as they played their instruments and the chemistry they all have as a group.
The night was entertaining to say the least. Fans, friends, and family from Beaumont, Austin, and other parts of Texas came to the venue to show support. It was nice to see some of my brother’s buddies from his high school days, including Alex Mann who joined him on stage playing rhythm guitar. Lot’s of South San Bobcats in the house!
As an artist myself, I know the time, energy, sweat, tears, and heart it takes to put yourself out there and share your passion with the world; it’s a feeling like no other. Congrats, Dez & Greg and The Buddy System on “Painted Skies”. Can’t wait to hear more music. Click to order a CD or T-shirt.
