Unexpected plans to hang out with fun friends is always the best. Even more so when it involves trying out new drinks and that’s exactly what our mission was; trying out the new Shiner Bock Beers. In honor of celebrating one of my friend’s birthdays, after dinner we stopped by The Beer Depot in San Antonio, Texas. It was my first time ever visiting the bar, but it will not be my last. It was cozy, welcoming, and very laid back just like I prefer; what’s even better is that its right in the middle of town before you actually hit the downtown area. They have a great craft beer selection along with the usual beer favorites as well as local beers. The bar was airy and has an open area with tables and chairs for a big group of friends to fit comfortably in.

Being a big fan of Shiner Bock, I was excited to try their two-new summer seasonal beers. First off, I am not big on peaches but, I tried the Hill Country Peach Wheat anyway and first. If you love peaches you will love this craft beer. Its smooth peachy flavor is very bold, and the aroma is strong; you can immediately taste and smell the peach as soon as you open the bottle. In my opinion, the brew isn’t as sweet as you expect it to be and could be a little sweeter; it’s not a beer I could drink all night or a lot of. On the Shiner Bock website, they mention the peaches used in the craft beer being from the Texas Hill Country.

Strawberries are my favorite fruit, so I couldn’t wait to try the Shiner Bock Strawberry Blonde. When opening the bottle, the strawberry aroma isn’t as bold as the peach; you can smell more of the beer. Surprisingly, you can taste more of the strawberry flavor in the beer. The beer is crisp and has a nice sweetness to it; it was perfect in my opinion. This beer is one I would pack up and take to the beach with me. On the Shiner Beer website, they mention the strawberries used in the craft beer are from Poteet, Texas.
