Where to View Christmas Lights in San Antonio 2019 Edition

It is hard to believe that 2018 is almost in the books. However, before that happens, we will celebrate the holiday season. The San Antonio area is home to many places that feature Christmas light displays.

Christmas Lights in San Antonio

San Antonio River Walk– 2019 marks the 49th year of the River Walk’s holiday lights display. This event features approximately 122,000 colorful, glittering lights that form a twinkling canopy over the San Antonio River Walk. These lights are showcased on the downtown portion of the River Walk and can be viewed from November 29th to January 13th, 2020, from 5:30PM to 6:30AM. FREE

San Antonio Zoo– Zoo Lights- The San Antonio Zoo features their festive Zoo Lights where you will walk through the zoo under twinkling holiday lights. You can also take part in activities such as take in the Lakeside Light Show, visit the North Pole, the Polar Point and the Reindeer Row, ride the Holiday Express Train and so much more! Zoo Lights takes place daily till December 31st. Sunday-Friday, the hours are 12:00PM to 9:00PM and Saturday, the hours are 10:00AM to 9:00PM. Sea World San Antonio– Christmas Celebration- Sea World turns its park into a watery, winter wonderland for the holidays. Christmas Celebration runs from November 23rd to January 23, 2020. Spread over 250 acres are 9 million Christmas lights, making it the largest Christmas light display in Texas. The festivities also include daily Christmas shows. Christmas Celebration is included in the price of park admission.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas– Holiday in the Park- From November 23rd to January 5th, 2020, Six Flags is turned into a winter wonderland, complete with colorful lights and holiday attractions. Check out the Caroling Christmas Tree Family, Winter Wonderland, Santa’s Cottage and the New Magic of the Season Ornament. Holiday in the Park is included in the price of park admission.

University of the Incarnate Word– Light the Way- From November 23rd to January 6th, 2020, the University of the Incarnate Word campus is covered in close to one million sparkling holiday lights. FREE.

Travis Park– Travis Park Ice Skating Rink: Open December 2019- January 31st, 2020. FREE parking in City-operated garages, lots and meters brought to you by Downtown Tuesday  250,000 lights made possible by Centro San Antonio. #TravisParkLights

Morgan’s Wonderland– Wonderland Christmas- Morgan’s Wonderland features a Wonderland Christmas, a combination of colorful lights, lively entertainment, holiday decorations, holiday traditions and fun shows. The festivities take place from 4:00PM to 9:00PM on December 7th, 14th, 15th, and 21st-23rd. Admission prices are listed on their website.

Christmas Lights in Surrounding Areas

City of Boerne– Parade of Lights- During the month of December, bundle up, jump in the car, drive around the city of Boerne and enjoy the homes and businesses that are decorated with holiday light displays. The Annual Parade of Lights homes and businesses will be judged on December 10th. You’ll be able to find a map and a list of addresses for all residential and commercial entrants, on the city’s website.

City of Windcrest– Light Up Decoration Contest- This year marks the 61th Annual Windcrest Light Up Decoration Contest. The contest features homes in the city which are decorated with creative and elaborate displays of holiday lights. Saturday, December 7th, 2019 from 6pm-9pm at city hall. Maps of all the contest entrants can be picked up at Windcrest City Hall, so you can drive around the city and view the brightly-lit holiday displays. Don Strange Ranch– Christmas on the Ranch- Christmas on the Ranch runs daily (6:00PM to 10:00PM) from November 29th to December 23rd. You can either drive-thru with your vehicle or take a hayride through 2 miles of over 3 million Christmas lights, as well as animated holiday displays including angels, Christmas trees, reindeer and snowmen. Admission is $25 per vehicle if you drive-thru or &15 per person (kids under 2 are free) for a hayride.

Elf Acres– Head to Elf Acres November 20th to December 29th to check out their amazing holiday lights display. Their hours are Sunday-Thursday from 6:30PM to 10:00PM and Friday and Saturday from 6:30PM to 11:00PM. Drive-thru 15 acres of Christmas lights, Christmas animated displays and synchronized holiday music. Admission is $27 per vehicle. Elf Acres Christmas Lights

Enchanted Springs Ranch– Old West Christmas Light Fest- The Old West Christmas Light Fest will take place on Thanksgiving till Christmas Night, from 6:00PM to 10:00PM. This festive event combines holiday light displays and Old West fun, in both drive-thru and walk-thru options. Admission prices are listed on their website.

City of New Braunfels– Santa’s Ranch features Christmas displays, including lit up gingerbread houses, nativity scenes, depictions of the North Pole, and more at the Christmas ranch. There are over 1.5 million, custom made lights all put up to help you experience the magic of the Christmas season. Open November 8th – January 4th, 2020, Sun-Thurs 6pm – 10pm Fri-Sat 6pm- 11pm.

Johnson City -Johnson City celebrates its 30th annual Lights Spectacular.  ​For the last 30 years, Johnson City transforms itself from a slow-paced, presidential hometown nestled on the banks of the Pedernales River, into a bright beacon of light like a guiding star welcoming visitors with good old fashioned Christmas cheer. The family and pet-friendly event is FREE and lasts until January 5, 2020.
