Avocados, The Good Fat

Avocados, The Good Fat

Today is National Guacamole day. Guacamole is one of my favorite snacks to eat because I love avocados. Avocados are known as a “good fat” since they contain omega-3 fatty acids. Those fatty acids keep the skin youthful and plump along with the anti-aging vitamin c and e combination avocados have.

Due to all the healthy components in avocados, it happens to be one of the top beauty foods. Other skin care benefits are:

Hydrating and Nourishing

Avocados hydrate and nourish dry skin and help reduce fine lines. They also promote circulation in the skin. This is why avocado oil is so common in cosmetics and skin care products.

Natural Antioxidants

Avocados naturally protect your skin from damage because they contain antioxidants. They improve your complexion and is a natural remedy for eczema.

Clear Skin

Avocados restore nutrients in your skin by removing dead skin cells. Eating them regularly may even help control breakouts in the skin.

Avocado Beauty Recipes

Hair Conditioning Treatment

In a bowl, smash and mix 1 peeled avocado, 1 egg yolk, and ½ teaspoon olive oil Apply to the hair focusing on your dry ends. Leave in your hair from 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Hair should be shiny and manageable.

Hand Softening Treatment

In a bowl, smash and mix ¼ of a peeled avocado, 1 egg white, 2 or 3 tablespoons of oatmeal, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Work the mixture on your hands and let it stay on for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry hands. Hands will fell soft and smooth.

Face Masque

Smash up half of a peeled avocado and spread in on your clean face, avoiding your eyelids. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, rinse with warm water, and pat dry skin. This is perfect for extremely dry skin and crepiness around the eyes.
Did you know… Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July, Super Bowl Sunday, and Easter each account for approximately five percent of annual avocado sales?

Avocados are full of vitamins and “good fats” whenever eaten in moderation. They may help improve skin elasticity, smoothness, and lower fluid retention. Adding just a couple slices a day to a salad or sandwich is sufficient to reap the benefits.
