Things to Pack for a Road Trip

Road trips and enjoying the great outdoors is something I not only love doing, I grew up going to some really cool spots in Texas that are closer than you think.  (I will be sharing some of those places during summertime on the blog, so stay tuned and subscribe.) With road trips being my frequent spring and summer thing to do, I have a bag set aside for essentials and a list I keep on my phone of the things I usually need. If you are planning a road trip to the river or the beach for the day, you still need to be prepared. Here are some things you should bring along:

Road Trip Essentials:

First aid kit
Bug spray
Sunscreen
Aspirin
Flashlight
Extra change of clothes & shoes
Towel
Tweezers
Antibacterial gel
Books, games, & music (if you don’t have activities planned & just in case you have no signal on your devices)
Water proof bag or case for your phone
Sunglasses
Water shoes or old tennis shoes (keep your feet protected when hitting the river and lakes)
Cash and change (for entry fees and/or toll roads)
Portable battery charger for your phone or other devices
Trash bag
Toiletries bag (just in case you stay the night)
Blanket and pillow (you may need a nap before heading home)
Wine and can opener
Snacks
Cooler for water & drinks
Utensils
Umbrella
Toilet paper
Map (just in case GPS doesn’t work)
Folding chair

For fun road trip music check out the Pandora station “Road Trippin Radio”.

I hope this list helps those of you that like to take those spur of the moment road trips. As many as I have taken, each trip I am more prepared and it’s because of this list. Remember to visit local restaurants, shops, historic sites, be open-minded and explore.  Safe travels everyone!
