5 DIY Beauty Recipes

Forget all those high dollar moisturizers – Apply Vaseline to your elbows, knees, and feet once a week. Cover your feet with good fitting socks and sleep with it at night. In the morning your skin is sure to feel soft and well moisturized. This may not work on extremely dry skin but it does soften skin a bit. (Never use Vaseline as a moisturizer on your face.)

Help fight the appearance of nasty blackheads – Try mixing up equal parts of plain oatmeal with honey and stir to make up a paste. Use this paste as a face scrub and you will zap those zits before they start and have a beautiful and flawless complexion. (It works as a mild exfoliant.)

Get rid of puffy eyes – Slice a raw potato and put them on your eyelids to reduce the redness and puffiness. Lay down and rest for about 20 minutes and when you get up, bye bye bags.

Avoid those yellowish stained fingernails – Take a freshly cut lemon and scrub it over your fingernails to buff away those yucky yellow stains. You can also make a soak by mixing 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and about 2 tablespoons of warm water. Allow your your nails to soak in the mixture for about 15 minutes and then rinse your hands well. Be sure to use a good moisturizer afterwards as the lemon juice can dry your hands. (Remember the Vaseline tip)

Make your own sugar body scrub – You can save a ton of money on all those fancy high dollar body scrubs and simply make your own. To do this mix up a 1/2 cup of sugar and a 1/4 cup of olive oil. Use this in the shower to exfoliate dry dead skin. It works just as well as some of those expensive sugar scrubs you see in the stores.
