Happy Feet, Happy You

Let’s face it, our feet take a huge beating daily.  Starting with your morning jog, the long hectic day at work, and followed by taking the kids to run all their after school errands. By the end of the day your feet are throbbing, sore, dry, and probably have a bit of callus build up. Here are some tips to keep those feet feeling good and looking great. Callused, cracked, dry heels snagging those pantyhose? Keep a pumice stone or foot file in your shower to give your feet a good scrubbing after they’ve been softened while you’re taking your shower.

[tweetthis]Give your feet their own footbath. Make your soak more luxurious by adding a few drops of essential oil or some milk[/tweetthis]

Pamper yourself by treating your feet to a pedicure! Have a professional take care of those toesies for ya! Plus there’s nothing like having freshly polished toes. Even men are now starting to get their toenails polished.

Who doesn’t like a foot massage? I know I do! It’s relaxing and you’ll feel like you’re walking on air afterwards. Ask your loved one to massage you while you’re relaxing at home watching the news…then trade off. This may even be kinda fun!

Feet and ankles a bit swollen? That’s probably a sign of water retention or too many salty foods at lunch time. Try placing some pillows under your feet and have them raised up for a bit, this should reduce some of the swelling.

Take a good look at your shoe collection. I know some of you have to make that fashion statement at work, but it’s very possible your uncomfortable shoes are part of the reason your feet are building up calluses and/or throbbing at the end of the day.  Wear sensible shoes when you are coming and/or going from work and keep those pretty heels in a bag. Not only will your feet feel better at the end of the day but there will be less wear & tear on your heels.

For extremely dry feet, give yourself an intense moisturizing treatment. Lather on foot creme, slip your feet into plastic bags, and pull on a pair of over-sized socks. Leave on overnight while sleeping and when you awaken the next morning your feet will feel smooth and soft. My favorite foot lotion is Epoch® Sole Solution™ Foot Treatment.
Since I started using it, i actually get fewer pedicures.

Benefits include: Works on the underlying cause of rough, dry, and cracked feet, returning them to a soft, smooth, healthy looking condition. Delivers noticeable relief in the first few weeks of use. Softens and exfoliates dead cell buildup and calluses for soft, smooth skin. No added fragrance; naturally fragranced with allspice berry. And Safety-allergy-dermatologist tested.
