Texas, Turkey, & Wine

With Thanksgiving a few days away, I wanted to share one of my favorite Texas wines with my readers. A few years back while picking up a few groceries for my brother’s birthday dinner, I happened to pick up a bottle of wine. What attracted me to this bottle was the picture of grapes on the front of the bottle, it reminded me of a painting I have at home. Silly I know, but it turned out to be a really good choice and going with your gut always works out.  It’s always a big hit on Thanksgiving since it goes well with turkey so I always have a couple of bottles on the table

Llano Estacado’s Sweet Red Wine is considered to be a table or dessert wine. It is a bit on the sweet side, so I don’t recommend it with a dessert or to those that like a dry unsweet wine. I have tried it with beef, Italian, and chicken. It seems to go with anything! (In my opinion.) If you ever need a nice inexpensive wine to enjoy after crappy day at work or while soaking in the tub, I think this one is perfect! (This is one of my “relax after work” wines.)

Let me describe what I feel when I drink this bottle of goodness, yes, you read right…BOTTLE! Every time I buy one, it doesn’t seem to last! And I am horrible at sharing it, unless you count my mama taking a few sips from my glass when I’m not looking! Haha! This wine is dark, thick, rich in color like the perfect shade of plum wine lipstick. Its thickness coats your throat like a piece of warm chocolate just melting down to nothing. The flavor is bountiful and tastes like you picked your own fresh fruits from an orchard.

This wine would be perfect to have at the table for Thanksgiving. I am a big fan of purchasing local products; this wine is made here in Texas. So try it! You can find it at HEB, Walmart or any supermarket! Bottles are not over $10.00.

Wine Facts:  Llano Estacado Sweet Red is a festive wine made from several grape varieties including Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. This deliciously fruity red wine displays an alluring blackberry flavor, with soft, round tannins that provide a rich mouth texture with just a hint of mint in the finish. Llano Sweet Red can be enjoyed either chilled or at room temperature. It’s fresh & fruity character requires no bottle aging.
